On July 25th, a small group of members from Adams Lake, Neskonlith, and Skwlāx te Secwépemcúl̓ecw participated in a pipe ceremony on Skwelkwek’welt.
This was held on the highest point on the mountain and a person could see miles and miles away. The one photo you could see Copper Island in the Shuswap Lake. Was a very inspiring and beautiful area for a ceremony.
The small gathering will be the first of many to reconnect ourselves to each other and to the land. More gatherings will happen to discuss plans for all communities to come up and share food, our Secwépemc stories and to harvest (if they choose).
